VIOLET CLARE

Violet Clare, the moniker used by 20-year-old Violet Bowdle, is an alternative indie folk singer-songwriter based in Chicago. Originally from East Grand Rapids, Michigan, a town she has referred to as her muse, she began writing stories of all kinds as soon as she could hold a pencil. She grew up engulfed by folk and songwriter classics from her father, like Joni Mitchell, The Kinks, and Nick Drake, as well as alternative rock and hip hop from her mom, such as The White Stripes, Wilco, Radiohead, and Jill Scott. Through lyrically-heavy reflections on both her relationships with others as well as her relationship with herself, Violet Clare weaves themes of hyper-awareness, guilt, change, childhood, and acceptance through each one of her melodies.

TWOCELL

Lauren Kenyon began her minimalist indie-rock mischief in her childhood bedroom with a phone and the garageband app. She slowly developed her sore-throat style that only the D.I.Y approach can elevate. Twocell has been likened to that of simplistic folk rock following artists like Alex G, Angel Olsen, and Brittle Brian. With poetic yet bare lyrics that capture the feeling of loneliness along with distorted guitar, she is able to create a reminiscent sound landscape. After releasing a couple of projects including I am Building a House, Twocell prepares to put out her third album, Braids, which she describes as devastating yet dear, as a love letter to growing up.
