In the first episode of the Writing Out Loud podcast, students of Columbia College Chicago sit down with Chicago author Eric Charles May to discuss his debut novel Bedrock Faith: A Novel. Eric talks about the neighborhood where he grew up that inspired the fictional setting of the book, how he develops unique yet true-to-life characters, and ending up in a different place than he expected while writing. Eric goes in depth on several key characters from the novel, and he offers his personal strategies for countering the dreaded writer’s block.
